Beauty Interview with Christy Dilg the Author of the Novel "Forbidden "Forever"

      I had the pleasure to read Christy's first book and I loved it. I hope you all get to read it sometime and I hope you will enjoy this fun questionnaire of hers.  

          1.  Please tell us a little about yourself (for the ones that do not know) who is Christy Dilg ? Christy Dilg is a wide, mom and determined woman. She loves to decorate cakes, photography, reading and writing. She is a cancer survivor and someone that never gives up.

       2. Before work, what does your beauty preparation consist of? About how long does it take before you walk out the door? Shower, makeup, hair. It takes me a hour to get completely ready.

3. What makeup and hair product you cannot live without, and why?

I cannot live without my Sephora mascara

4. What hair products are in your bath tub right now? Suave, Herbal Essence

5.Which product especially are you interested in? Why? Any product claiming to help with dark spots,         sun spots, etc. I live in Florida and ruined my skin growing up by baking in the sun. Now as I am older the dark spots have taken over and I am really self-conscious about them.

6. What are three worst products you have ever used? Humm. I’m not sure.

13. How are you wearing your current hair now? Layers? Side or full bangs? Any hair changes coming soon? Straight, one length, boring but I did add feathers in my hair and sometimes I do wear extensions for a fuller, longer look that I got from Luna Locks.

   Live, Laugh, Love! After having cancer I realized this is the only quote to live by. Without all 3 you are wasting your life.

Argan oil is a rare and precious nectar from Morocco and has been a beauty secret passed down from mother to daughter for centuries. The past few years, this elixir with priceless virtues became a symbol of relaxation and beauty. It also became very popular, but be careful as many so-called 'Argan oil’ products do not actually contain any Argan oil or just very little amounts.

How can you recognize high quality Argan oil?

First, cosmetic Argan oil does not have a strong smell. Our Argan oil has a faint smell of nuts because it comes from the Argan almonds. Argan oil is often called liquid gold because it has a fine light gold color, which stays when the nuts have not been roasted for food use. If a strong or rancid odor is detected, it is a sign of oxidization, which can be caused by a bad extraction or conservation method. Argan oil is extracted from the kernels of the argan tree, which grows only in the southwest region of Morocco. Able to live up to 200 years, this tree makes us enjoy its virtues and wisdom. An argan tree produces about 100kg of almonds a year and the production of a liter of argan oil require about 80kg of fresh fruits and more than 12 hours of work. The extraction process is long and laborious, yet the reward that follows continues to fill us with its many benefits.

The harvest is done every year between June and August by simply picking up the fruits that have fallen on the ground. Then, they must dry in the sun for several weeks before the transformation process can begin. Women from the local cooperative are then responsible for removing the pulp of the fruit to then crack the nut inside. This nut is deemed to be sixteen times stronger than a hazelnut and can only be broken manually between two stones one by one to access the precious almonds hidden inside.

The process is only just starting. The almonds then need to be heated up for a few minutes in terracotta dishes and grounded with a grindstone to get a dough that will be essential in the making of argan oil. The real transformation starts now. Traditionally, patience was the key ingredient to obtain the precious liquid, as the dough needed to be triturated by hand for several hours non-stop until the very moment where the artisan added small amounts of warm water to release argan oil from the dough. Today, however, many use a process similar to the one used to extract olive oil: a cold-press method.

Benefits:

Forever present in the secret kit of Moroccan women, argan oil has long been the best ally for body care treatments to counteract the harmful effects of climate change and aging. It works wonders on wrinkles and dry skin, fights and reduces traces left by acne or chickenpox or other skin irritation or skin lesions such as stretch marks, cracks and minor burns. Cosmetic argan oil can be applied on both the skin and hair. Its virtues shall fight hair loss, eczema, dehydration and skin dryness.

Argan oil has proven very successful with Moroccan women who have been using it for centuries now for its cosmetic properties. Non-roasted argan oil has a honey color and is very rich in essential fatty acids, omega-6 and in vitamin E. The latter helps with hydration, preservation of skin elasticity, and nutrition. By restoring the hydrolipid film, argan oil manages to diminish premature aging of the skin and even has an anti-wrinkle effect. Its rich natural ingredients play an important role in the renewal of cells and increase cell’s nutrient intake, making it an ideal candidate for use in cosmetic products.

It is normally used in traditional hammams after a black soap treatment, a scrub with the Kessa glove, and a rassoul exfoliation. What makes argan oil so attractive is that it is great for the face, hair, body, and nails.

Hair instructions:

Argan oil is nourishing and revitalizing for the scalp: it restores shine, natural softness and the silky effect in the hair. Biological argan oil is your best ally to restore health and vigor in your rebellious, split or damaged hair.

• Apply argan oil along the entire length of damp hair and let it rest for about 30 minutes before washing it with shampoo and rinsing it thoroughly.
• If you have dandruffs, apply the oil on your head by giving yourself a light massage; this will prevent your skin from drying.

Face instructions:

Argan oil, a rare and unique prosperity of nature, hydrates, revitalizes, softens, and protects the skin against drying out. Argan oil reduces chapping and cracking caused by the winter cold, but also prevents wrinkling. Thanks to its strong concentration in linoleic oil, argan oil cleans acne-prone skin and leaves it glowing and radiant. Its firming effect does wonder in case of loss of skin elasticity.

• In the morning, use argan oil by putting water in your hands and adding 3-4 drops of pure oil, and then rub your hands together to create hundreds of droplets. Apply on the face, neck, and body. Massage gently with circular movements to make the oil go in.
• At night, after cleaning your face with black soap, apply pure argan oil instead of your typical night cream.

Body instructions:

Argan oil is rich in vitamin E, beta-carotene, linoleic acid, oleic acid, and many other nutrients that nourish skin and fortify soft and brittle nails. Argan oil has so many natural properties for the body that aside from protecting skin against external factors and preserving skin elasticity, it relieves joint pain. Finally, it is very popular for sumptuous argan oil massages.

• To hydrate the body properly, use argan oil by putting water in your hands and adding 3-4 drops of pure oil, and then rub your hands together to create hundreds of droplets. After your bath or shower, apply the oil all over the body and repeat as often as necessary to hydrate your body fully. Massage gently in circular motions to make the oil go in.

• For a royal massage, use argan oil instead of your regular massage oil, works wonder with hot stones massage

Nail instructions:
To strengthen your nails and make them less brittle, here is an easy homemade recipe. In a small bowl, pour about one tablespoon of lemon juice and one tablespoon of argan oil. Once the mixture is ready, wash your hands and soak your nails in for about 15 minutes. Generally, one treatment a week is enough, but you can repeat it every day if you do not get the desired result. You can reuse the solution for a whole week at most.

Moroccan Hammam Spa Kit with Argan Oil

  

BLACKS SOAP is a natural emollient. As I explained above, it is used in conjunction with a Kessa glove clean and exfoliate the skin thoroughly. The black soap is made up from a paste of organic soil, olive pits, hash, olive oil and salt – this is a traditional Moroccan recipe.  The Black Soap had an interesting, almost toffee-like look to it in the container and smelt strongly (but not unpleasantly) of eucalyptus oil. I spread it liberally over my skin in the shower. After approximately five minutes, I washed it off using the kessa glove to scrub away and remove any dead skin. My skin felt completely rejuvenated and soft.

Once your skin has been prepared by the black soap, the RASSOUL can be applied to the body. It’s been hailed a god-send for sensitive skin and doesn’t contain any harsh ingredients. Instead of dispersing dirt like many products, Rassoul clay actually absorbs it. The Rassoul clay sported the same eucalyptus scent that the black soap did, but the texture was a lot more muddy. Rassoul clay is very much a multi-purpose product, as it can be used on the skin to soften it, on the face and in the hair. To use it, I scooped some from the tub and mixed it with water until it had a slightly more liquidy consistency.It’s recommended that you use it after the black soap, as it absorbs impurities from the skin and leaves it even softer.  Personally, while I used it once or twice on my body, I found it wasn’t really necessary after the black soap treatment.
