Devacurl Hair Products for Curly Hair

Laying off of the heat when it comes to styling my hair is probably one of the best decisions I have made so far.  I loved wearing my hair straight, but the health and quality of my hair was paying the price. Revitalizing the curls you were born with is a process but well worth taking care of your hair. Transitioning can take a little bit of work, since all those years of blow-drying really took a toll on my hair.

My DevaCurl shampoo and conditioner is all I have been using for the past 2 weeks. I washed it about four times. It defined my curls more and more as I keep using the products. I also use the texturizing curl crème after I toweled dried my hair. I do not use a diffuser. I have left it air dried and I am so happy with the results.

The first thing I noticed about these products was their packaging.  It is sleek and simple.  The vibrant colors are very eye catching and pleasant to look at.  Even the font of the writing is very pretty. The smell is absolutely pleasant. A blend of amazing oils put together. I totally love it.

Define & Control Styling Cream Touchable Curl Definer: If you absolutely want nothing to do with gel, but still want the same hold then this cream is for you.  I tried this curl definer and was surprised at how well it set and held my curls throughout the day.  Another plus is that it smells amazing!

What are you guys using for your curls? Keep me informed below. I love to try new products all the time. Make sure you follow me on my Instagram @beautybygisell

Define and Embrace Your Pretty Curls

www.curls.biz

If you have natural curly hair, you understand that it can be a challenge to maintain. You see women in magazines with beautiful defining curls with no trace of imperfection, and you tell yourself, “I WANT THAT”! But how?

Curls is whole-heartily dedicated to controlling, moisturizing, de-frizzing, and embracing the natural curls of every woman and man out there. Curly hair is bold, natural, and beautiful. If one’s hair is not naturally straight, straight hair must be obtained by applying heat. Whether you blow dry your hair to a straight finish or straighten your hair between two hot plates, or the use of a hot tool styling brush, heat is always the answer whether we like it or not. Most individuals do not know how to properly apply heat to their hair to avoid damage at all costs, including the right temperature to use. Taking a break from straightening and heating your hair to avoid heat overload, let your hair breathe and rest naturally. If you have naturally wavy or super curly hair once wet and naturally set, you want to take care of them, the right way. Naturally curly hair needs to be moisturized and maintained.

Blueberry Bliss Cleanser is a shampoo dedicated to weightless waves. If you are curious to know if this is for you and your hair, this is geared towards those with wavy hair that need weightless moisture. This cleanser gives the perfect amount of hydration. The light, moisturizing formula, made with organic ingredients, that fights frizz, detangles and sets you up for a defined, wavy look. After using this product I found their wavy hair so lightweight and it lasted all day! Curious on how to use it?
  • Apply cleanser to wet hair, focusing on the ends.
  • Use your fingers to gently glide the product through your waves to moisturize and detangle.
  • Rinse as needed.
Blueberry Bliss Reparative Hair Mask

For those of you with super dry curls, especially from putting excessive heat to it, Curl Hair Intense Moisture Treatment is for you! This rich, creamy, deep Conditioning Treatment drenches dehydrated hair with Chamomile for long-lasting moisture, protection and shine.

How to use:
  • Glide a generous amount through wet hair with your fingertips and let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Rinse well. Use one to two times per week or as needed.

This is me loving my curls!

Kiss InstaWave Automatic Curler

I have been using the Kiss Instawave. It's a curling iron that automatically does the curl for you. All you have to do is set your hair on the clip and push a button. It twirls your hair around the barrel, tangle-free, and after just a couple of seconds you pull it down and just like magic - a perfect curl.

Once I figured out the trick to getting it "hooked" and which way to turn the dial it was super easy, and extremely fast. It probably took about 10 minutes to curl all my hair. Once you learn to use it, you'll figure out that the longer you hold your hair in the barrel the tighter the curl will be. This will be my new go to hair tool.
I'm looking forward to use it on my clients at work. They are going to love it.

Available at some of my favorite stores: Target, Ulta, and Amazon.com for SRP: $59.99

Why Won't Your Hair Return to its Natural Texture After Straightning?

What happened is heat damage. Yes, your hair can lose its ability to curl and will remain permanently straight, and damaged. This happens when you use heat that's too high – it doesn't have to happen over time. One incident with a too hot curling iron, flat iron or a any hot tool and this could happen. Even if you wear your naturally curly hair straight all the time, this isn't a result you want because the hair has been fried straight and now is not healthy.

The only solution for the damaged hair is, unfortunately, to cut it off. If you have several damaged sections all over, you'll need to get rid of them, which means an overall cut. If you're trying to grow your hair longer, this is probably the last thing you want to hear, but it's necessary for the overall health of your hair. Once you cut off the damaged parts, you can start or return to a healthy hair regimen. Keep in mind that the new regrowth will be curly and healthy.

There are many hot tools with a controlled heating button. It will make you adjust the heat yourself. I also recommend a heat protectant for your hair before the heat. I have been a hairstylist since 1999 and as a professional I recommend weekly deep condition. I personally straighten my hair every two days and my hair is still curly. Hope this information helps and visit back soon.

Learn to love your CURLY Hair

Fresh Curls by REDKEN

Do you always blow out your hair? Well, it is time to start loving your curls. Many people do not know how to take care of their curls, that is why they are always straightening their hair. It is 2012 common try something new. Curly hair is beautiful too. I think we have the best of both worlds. We have natural curls and we can straighten it with a blow out. Straight hair people can not do that unless they get a chemical permanent wave that can start cost $80 and  up. So I will give you guys a few tips so you can start enjoying your natural curls!

Gisell's Tips and Tricks
  • It is important to use the right type of shampoo and conditioner for your hair. I posted Redken, BedHead and Cat Walk just for curls. Top, best lines that I use myself. Love them.
  • We all know trimming your hair every 6 to 8 weeks keeps your ends healthier.
  • You simply cannot over-condition frizzy hair. You need a heavy conditioner for use every time you wash your hair, and a deep conditioner for use once a week.
  • Smoothing cream and alcohol-free gel, you need to coat the cuticle so it locks out moisture.
  • Comb the product throughout all of your hair evenly with a wide-toothed comb.
  • Styling cream enhance your curls with a cream created for curly hair. Rub it in and let hair airdry.
  • Style serum warm up a couple drops of this in your hands and palm over dry, frizzy curls. The serum will solve your frizz problems.
  • Put Away the Blow Dryer to combat the frizzies, refrain from blow dryer overuse. Adding heat to air only increases the problem. Instead, finger-comb hair, letting curls air-dry for as long as possible (luckily, because your hair tends to be dry, so you may not need to wash hair more than a couple times a week). Never rub hair dry with a towel, instead squeeze moisture out with paper towels.
  • If you must use a blow dryer, use a diffuser. Hold the blow dryer under hair, and dry by cupping and squeezing hair in your palms from below (never scrunch curls, you'll invite frizz).
  • If you don't use a diffuser, aim the blow dryer nozzle downward, in the direction hair grows.
  • This are a few of many tricks out there. If anyone has any tips feel free to share. I love to hear some. Let's love and enjoy our sexy curls. Last advice from me to you all is to...
  • Find a Good Stylist! I can not stress this enough.
