DIY Facial Mask Recipes

There’s alot to be said about walking into your kitchen, looking around and realizing that some of the best beauty ingredients are hiding right there in your cabinets and inside your fridge. From moisturizing to exfoliating, DIY facial masks not only get the job done, but most of them can be made for pennies – especially in comparison to a salon facial.

Keep reading for a look at some of the best facial mask recipes that you can make right at home.

Baking Soda and Orange Juice Mask – this baking soda will exfoliate and rid your skin of blackheads while the orange juice tightens pores. 1 Tsp orange juice 1 Tsp baking soda Mix together and spread a thin layer on face and neck. Let the mask sit for 20 minutes. Rinse, moisturize and enjoy!

Yogurt and Honey Mask – for bright and beautiful skin, the lactic acid in the yogurt will exfoliate and heal blemishes. 1 tablespoon plain yogurt 1 teaspoon honey Dash of ground cinnamon Dash of ground nutmeg Mix together ingredients and apply directly to your skin (it will tingle a little bit), leave it on for 7 to 10 minutes and rinse.

Moisturizing and Brightening Kiwi Mask – this will leave your skin soft and glowing – and will stay good in the refrigerator for up to three weeks! 2 Kiwis Pureed 3 Tbsp Plain Yogurt 1 Tbsp Orange juice 1 Tbsp Almond or Olive Oil Peel kiwi and blend ingredients until smooth. Spread over face and neck. Leave on until dry and rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Strawberries and Skin Care

I love strawberries and you should know that strawberries or any berries are very very essential to your beauty. Strawberries are not only used for those hot, special occasions. Wink~

So, what's so special about strawberries?

Strawberries can be used for conditioning and toning the skin. They are rich in salicylic acid an ingredient found in many commercial acne creams and are the best treatment for acne-prone skin.

How to use strawberries? Mix 1/2-cup fresh strawberries with a tablespoon of sour cream for a weekly facial mask. If you're enjoying some strawberries, just simply cut the strawberry into half and rub it all over your face gently. Your skin feels rejuvenated and toned after that. Plus a fruity scent under your nose!

Other strawberry goodness - Eating fresh strawberries will also help whiten your teeth and keep your breath fresh. Just rub the strawberry over your teeth and your teeth will be visibly whiter after that. Trust me, give it a try! Plus, strawberries just taste so good and smell divine.

So go and try it or try it on someone else. Come back and tell me how was the experience?

Love to hear from all, Thanks

Why are Antioxidants good for your SKIN?

Like I said many posts before, I am all about hair and skin care, from the INSIDE TO THE OUTSIDE.

What are Antioxidants?

Apparently fruit and vegetables are full of them, and they’re claimed to help prevent disease and delay aging (slower wrinkling lol). If you're like most people, you want smooth, healthy skin, but maybe you don't want to wade through hundreds of chemically laden products to get it. That's where antioxidants can help. Incorporating the right antioxidants into your diet and skin care routine can have a positive effect on your skin.

Antioxidants are nutrients (vitamins and minerals) and enzymes (proteins inside your body) that can help to prevent and repair damage to your body's tissue. Antioxidants do this by slowing or preventing the effect of free radicals, which start oxidation -- a process that causes damage from oxygen that can lead to cell dysfunction. If you've seen a peeled apple turn brown, you've seen oxidation in action. As antioxidants block the effects of free radicals, they end up being oxidized. This is why it's important to constantly replenish your supply of antioxidants.

When it comes to caring for your skin, antioxidants can help to protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun. Unlike sunscreens and moisturizers, antioxidants can protect your skin from the inside out by guarding your cells from damage. Vitamins A, C and E and the mineral selenium are thought to be particularly helpful in skin care. In addition to helping fortify cells against free radicals, vitamins A and C also encourage cell and tissue growth, helping the body to repair itself. This is very helpful to the skin, which is constantly shedding and regrowing cells. For this reason, any antioxidants that protect cells and encourage cell growth could be helpful in an anti-aging regimen, as they may help fight fine lines and wrinkles.

Ladies and gentlemens this post is for both sexes! If you take care your insides, outside will GLOW!
