Split Ends Treatments and Cures

Would you be mad if I told you the only way to get rid of split ends is to cut them off? Well, yes it is true. :( There is no cure for split ends. Now, I really don’t want you to be mad, so I am going to tell you some information so you do not have to cut to many inches off at once.

When the natural oil from our scalp fails to reach the tips, it can lead to the development of split ends. There are many reasons for our hair becoming dry - washing your hair with hot water, overexposure to extreme weather conditions, sun, and pollution, and not oiling and conditioning the hair regularly. Also, if you subject your hair to harmful chemicals in shampoos, conditioners, hair colors, and dyes, and blow dryers, it will strip away the moisture from the hair. You must eliminate all these factors. In addition, you must drink lots of water to keep your hair hydrated, and do not wash your hair everyday. I recommend to wash every 2 days, or you can use dry shampoo in between. You also need to condition your hair every time you wash it.

I also recommend Lucenza from Tec Italy. It is a split end treatment. It works as a final touch like a serum. When you are done styling your hair you apply this to the ends. Lucenza is light fresh scent treatment that reconditions, shines natural looking, repairs and prevents split ends. Offers great protection against sunlight and free radicals. Specially formulated for chemically treated hair, is the final touch to the style. Apply 3-4 drops on wet or dry hair. I personally use at the end and I have never used on damped hair.

Last but not least make sure you trim your hair regularly apprx every 4 months if you are leaving it grow longer and 6-8 weeks if maintaing your current style.

A Men Haircut with many styles

(Pic 1)

I wanted to do a post on a men's haircut. I am qualify to talk about it. I have been a cosmetologist for so long and I love doing haircuts. I am not just doing this post for the cuts but to show that 1 specific haircut can be used in many ways. If you look at all these pictures, the men have basically the same haircut.

Let me explain, Pic 1 is short on back and sides, I am going to probably guess that is a number #1 clipper size blended into with a #2. Short on top with scissors.

Pic 2 I am guessing it can be size #1 or even size #2 blended into a #3 and short on top with scissors.

Pic 3 and Pic 4, I'm guessing clipper #3 blended into with a clipper #4 and short on top with scissors.

This cut is versatile. You can spike it, gel it back, to the side, or however you like. My point to this post is that from pic 1 wearing a muscle tank top to pic 4 looking like a corporate business man, whichever outfit you pick with this cut you will look SHARP!

Remember keep that neck and sides clean with a weekly shape up! It's my law. The law of beauty.

Sun and Pools will damage hair in the Summer

SUN IS A BALL OF FIRE~!

Sun is the cause of many bad things. Even though it is many people do not take the proper precautions before tannning, not using hats or even not protecting their children. I recommend no sun at all but if you must wear sunscreen. Protection for your hair is a must. Wear hats especially at the beach. Sun can really burn your hair. There are also many products that have sunscreen protection in them like for example:

Redken’s UV Rescue Shimmering Defense is a creamy, citrus scented potion that leaves a shiny shield on your locks to protect against color dehydration and drying sun rays.

What about pools? God knows I can be all day in the pool with a glass of wine ok well many glasses of wine. Chlorine is what I want to talk about. Chlorine is a chemical that inside the pool for sanitary purposes, but it is also very damaging for the hair. I am posting a few good hair tips that you can follow for more healthier hair before the pool.

  • wet hair before entering pool with leave in conditioner - this will help prevent hair from soaking up the harsh, chlorinated pool water.
  • you can wear a cap. I know they are not cute. You can thank me later though ;) lol
  • Shampoo your hair as soon as you get out the pool. This will help to remove most of the chlorine before it can do great damage. * A clarifying shampoo is not necessary unless a green hue is on your hair.
  • last but not least maintaining hair trimmed 4 to 8 weeks is ideal! I can cut it for you just call me for an appointment!
  • Bonus Remeber there are no cure for split ends besides cutting it off. So let's take care of our hair ladies.
